Shoe, Stocking and Hat Numbers.
In the shoemaker's measure No. 1 (small size) is 4⅓ inches, inside length, and every succeeding number increases one-third of an inch, to 13. No. 1 (large size) is 8 11-24 inches, and every succeeding number increases one-third of an inch, to 15.
The numbers of hose or stockings, viz., 6, 7, 8, 8½, 9, etc., indicate the exact length of the foot of the hose in inches.

Alabama.--Age of consent, male 17, female 14, consent of parents required if under age; license required; ancestors, descendants, brothers, sisters, uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces and step-relatives prohibited; marriage within prohibited degrees, or white with negro blood void; marriages under age of consent voidable.
